Position Description
This position is responsible for designing and conducting research and evaluation in support of the advancement of the goals of Casa de Esperanza’s National Latin@ Network’s (NLN) research and evaluation team1 through the development and publication of academic and non-academic manuscripts in addition to writing and obtaining grant funding for research and evaluation work. This position may train and supervise emerging researchers and evaluators and will work with the team to build the evaluation capacity of Latin@ community based organizations.
Functions
1. Manage research and evaluation projects for the NLN.
2. Participate in data gathering and data analysis of quantitative and qualitative data for research and evaluation.
3. Produce and coordinate publications for the NLN, including applied research papers, manuscripts, evaluation reports, fact sheets, surveys, and community-focused publications.
4. Support original research to help the creation of new quality products for the NLN (e.g., large scale studies).
5. Support the capacity building of Latin@ organizations to contribute to the evidence base (e.g., evaluation capacity) through maintenance of the evaluation toolkit and technical assistance.
6. Ensure evaluation activities are based on accepted theory, principles, methods and practices, including developing and refining logic models, strategic planning and performance measures as well as developing tools and systems that reflect culturally relevant evaluation.
7. Participate in the dissemination of NLN research, including presenting at webinars, conferences and workshops; writing for the NLN blog, e-newsletter, and other publications.
1 The research center’s goal is to build the evidence base (academic and community based) regarding Latin@ families and communities through production of knowledge, training and technical assistance, building capacity of Latin@ organizations for research and evaluation, and strengthening emerging Latin@ researchers/evaluators.

8. Support any other special projects including but not limited to the evaluation toolkit, and research events (e.g., roundtables).
9. Supervise and support doctoral and undergraduate students as well as interns in research and evaluation projects.
10. Provide individualized technical assistance to other organizations as needed.
11. Support the development of grant proposals and funding for research and evaluation specific work.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Research and Evaluation
Minimum Qualifications
1. Education and Experience
• A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D.) in an appropriate field with at least three years experience in community participatory research and evaluation.
Or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• 3 years experience in domestic violence and/or advocacy (in similar fields).
2. Skills and Abilities
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Demonstrated superior skills in effective oral and written communication in both languages.
• Excellent scientific writing abilities in both quantitative and qualitative research.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure work is completed in a timely and effective
manner.
• Ability to model behavior consistent with the Casa de Esperanza mission.
• A solid working knowledge of Latino communities and issues related to domestic violence.
